I am so BEYOND upset about this... [Jun. 27th, 2007|02:56 pm]
[mood | infuriated]

As some of you may or may not know, on Monday, June 18th, Robin Young was run over by a car at Haffners and killed. At her wake on Friday, the calling hours began early and were extended 3 hours past when they were supposed to end because people from all over New England were affected by her death. There had to be well over 1,500 people that attended the calling hours that day, so to say the least, she had a very large impact on our community. It affected me on a bit more of a personal level because we're related. My father and Robin's are cousins. She worked at my school during 3 out of the 4 years I was there and I saw her on a very regular basis.

So what of her killer? Lets give you a little background on the woman who makes my blood run ice-cold. She immigrated to the United States in 1984, without family or anyone to support her. She put herself through school, got a job, great success story. But success turns quickly to failure in my eyes WHEN YOU KILL SOMEONE.

She claimed there was a mechanical error in her vehicle that caused it to go flying off of Rt. 125, plow over the 2' retaining wall, and shortly after, my cousin Robin. The police impounded her BMW, for later inspection. According to the black box in her car, no such error occurred.

She was arrested on the day of Robin's wake. According to the stipulations of the arrest, she was going to be forced to surrender her license and be held on bail.

So what do I find out last night?! Not only did she get out on bail, she didn't lose her license either. Footage from the news showed her getting into her car, SPEEDING OFF, and almost hitting a group of children.

I don't believe in this country's Criminal Justice system anymore BECAUSE IT APPARENTLY DOESN'T EXIST.

WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH THIS COUNTRY?!

update, anyone? [Jun. 19th, 2007|01:26 am]
[mood | sleepy]
[music |Stolen by Dashboard Confessional]

so yeah... it's been a while folks.

ok the end.

juuuust kidding! :D

so this weekend was pretty amazing. I got to see my adorable 7 month-old niece. She is so cute. SO cute. We definitely bonded a lot while she was here. Today was Mike & Shelley's last day here and it seemed that towards the end of the day, I was the only one she wanted holding her... :D I have to tell everyone this because I thought it was the most precious thing I've ever witnessed in the world. Shortly after Mike and Shelley started packing Janelle was really upset. She was crying and this is what killed me; she was saying goodbye through her tears. She was like 'buh buh buh bye'. It made me wanna cry! It was so cute. Mike and Shelley are thinking about coming back up for a week sometime before I go to school, already looking forward to it!

Another thing I'm totally looking forward to is college. I really can't wait. I want the dorm life experience. I want to meet the people I'll be talking to for the rest of my life (hopefully). I want REAL friends. None of this "I'm gonna be nice to you and talk to you, but when I'm with my group friends I'm not going to acknowledge your existence." I'm done with that. SO done. I'm done with the drama, I'm done with the backstabbing, done. That stuff's just not for me. I'm praying to God that College will not be anything remotely like High School was.

Work's been going alright. I'm not thrilled about working in the line of retail, but it's a job. I won't even get into bitchy customer scenarios, because I'm pretty sure you don't want to hear them. It's not always all that bad, but usually the bad overshadows the good when it comes to retail. Unfortunately it's that jerk customer that you wind up remembering instead of the sweet, kind lady with an adorable baby. One thing I can't stand is how we have a portrait studio inside of the store. Every day at work I have to listen to people being obnoxiously loud trying to get a baby to smile. 9 out of 10 times, the poor thing winds up crying because they're shoving a long, rainbow feather duster (yes, duster) in the kid's face. You don't need to shove a duster in someone's face to make them smile, in fact that's the worst possible idea anyone's ever had. Tell them to smile, they understand the concept. That will conclude my work rant.

Things have been going well with Kam and I. We had our 4 month on the 14th. The other night he was here, he was sitting on my bed talking to me and I went to move my foot and I accidentally kicked him in the face... :( I felt so bad I started crying. I swear, sometimes I just feel like a big 19 year-old blubbering baby. Back to Kam, though. He's been really awesome. He's going with me on Thursday to see my school.

I've been yawning violently for the last hour so I think that means I should go to bed..

is it midnight yet?! [Jun. 15th, 2007|02:11 pm]
[mood | excited]

I want it to be midnight. REALLY bad. Mike, Shelley and Janelle are coming up from NC and they'll be getting into Manchester at 11:49 pm. I miss them to pieces! I can't wait to hold Janelle and play with her. She's so freakin' cute! I'm gonna take tons of pictures. :D

breakup.. [Jan. 24th, 2007|01:05 am]
[mood | melancholy]

Andy and I have parted ways... We'd been drifting apart for a while and we both kinda lost energy to keep things going... I've come to see now that we were both too young to make the kind of commitment that we did. I'm a little sad, but I'll be ok.

[music |Heart of Gold by Neil Young]

I haven't updated in a while so here it goes.

I'm now employed at Toys "R" Us. I find it rather enjoyable so far. I've only had one bad customer experience so far, and considering I started at the beginning of the month I'd say that's pretty good. Everything with Andy is great as always. The only thing that kinda sucks is that I have nothing to do for most of my days off because he's in school until 2:15 and I've been waking up earlier. Kinda feel like none of my friends are really keeping in touch with me anymore. I'm getting kinda sick of having to twist peoples arms to get them to talk to me...

R.I.P. Bruce... 1944-2006 [Aug. 29th, 2006|01:15 am]

[mood | crushed]

I just found out that my uncle Bruce passed on... I'm a mess and I feel like crap... He was doing so good in Dover... He was just starting to get voluntary movement to his legs, I thought he was going to be able to walk again. We were supposed to be meeting with the staff from the home on Dover tomorrow to ask questions about what to do and what was going to happen with him there... He was getting better care in Dover than anywhere else.

Dad just told me that Bruce got a new doctor at Spaulding who said that as far as he's concerned he can leave the hospital now. He was supposed to be getting a procedure done so that he could swallow again, enabling him to eat. But now he's getting kicked out into a nursing home... He's never going to be able to eat again. It just breaks my heart because it's been almost 5 months since the accident, he's made so much progress and the doctors had given him hope. Now they're pretty much sending him to his dying days... Nobody deserves being deprived of being able to eat and with all that Bruce has been through he's the last person to deserve such a thing. It all goes back to money... If they had the money he could have the procedure done, but should money outweigh good will towards man?

summing up the rest of my trip (work in progress) [Jul. 16th, 2006|12:12 pm]
[mood | busy]
[music |Glory by She's The Car]

So I'm home now, I got back almost a week ago. I know, way to take forever to let everyone know... There's no way at this point that I can remember the fine details of the days I never wound up writing on. So here's a quick summary/ timeline I'm only doing a little at a time so I don't get overwhelmed

Friday, June 23rd:
GAPP had the Welcome party at the school. After the party I went bowling with Daphnä, her boyfriend Marcos, Andy and others. I sucked. After bowling we went to the Cherry Festival which is a celebration in Naumburg they have every year. The story is that the town was being attacked by some other ruler and so for some reason everyone was starving. So a teacher took some of their students to plead with their captors for food. The captors wound up feeling bad for the kids so they gave them cherries and called the whole thing off. That's a very abbreviated version of the story. But back to the festival, not so fun. Everyone was smoking everywhere (which caused me to get sick for the rest of my trip and I remain so but not as bad as I was. I get really bad coughing fits) There was one fun part though. There was a ride similar to our Mattehorn. What made it different was that on random rides it'd be going either backward or forward but they never told you which way it was going before you got on so it was a surprise every time. I wound up riding it probably 3-5 times. It went backwards for 2 rides and forward for 3. It was more fun going backwards. After the Cherry Festival I slept over Daphnä's for the first time. I enjoyed my time there, though. The house was really nice and I got to spend more time with Andy than I was able to ordinarily.

Saturday, June 24th:
We went shopping in Naumburg. I got Puma Flowing Woman perfume (smells wicked good) and 2 packs of Kinder Riegel chocolate (my favorite German Chocolate ever). Later on in the day we went to the Cherry Festival and I slept over Daphnä's again for the last time. (Word got to Herr Ecker and he said if I did it again I'd be sent packing back to America, which was kinda dumb because later on I went to a sleepover at Julia's and there were guys there...)

I got to see the bears today. It's so cool! The school has a castle across the street with its own bears. I have a feeling I'll be visiting my furry friends a lot. Their names are Toni and Aiko, both girls. Today was pretty uneventful. Tomorrow after school there's going to be a welcoming party for us. They're calling it a Grillfest, so it'll be like a barbeque. I'm going to be staying with Daphnä tomorrow night and Saturday night as well. Sarah's going to her cousin's on Friday and on Saturday she's going to Leipßig to see the Germany vs. Sweden soccer match and she knows I'm not into sports. I'm glad I'll be over at Daphnä's with Andy. We have a hard time being apart like this. He LOVES their house. It's all modern with art all over the place. He said Daphnä's dad is really cool too. He wants to take Andy and I to an art museum this weekend.

Happy Birthday, Tim! and Andy's dad! I thought this was kinda weird, but instead of having us go directly to the homes of our host families, we had our luggage and everything, we got dropped off at the school and went to school first. I had a lot of stuff too. Right before we left in the morning I went to the Getranke Markt and bought two 1 1/2 liter bottles of water because that was how much water I'd been consuming daily, and a 1 1/2 liter of Fanta which is my new favorite orange soda now. As soon as we got to Sarah's her parents took me grocery shopping. We got some bread, peanut butter, fluff and jelly. Sarah also took me to the candy aisle so I could try different chocolates. I am in love with Kinder Reigel. It's amazing. Later on I went onto the computer to type up my previous entries from this and Sarah's dad kept watching me from the window, which really weirded me out a bit... He can't speak English. Only Sarah and her mom can. Her Grandmother also can't, she lives in her own little section of the house. Sarah has a pet bunny and a guinea pig. She smokes and drinks... I walked into her room and I was like 'oh God...' This should prove to be an interesting partnership... I feel terrible about saying this but she also has an extreme B.O. problem... and I have to sleep in her bed. Before dinner we went to her friend Katchya's house and played a board game similar to Sorry!. I wound up trying a sip of some apple flavored stuff that had 5% alcohol but it didn't do anything to me, which was a relief to me. That's the only thing I' trying while I'm here, no more for me. My conscience has been a little dirtied by it. I'm scared to tell Andy and my mom but I know I'm going to because I'm too honest to not say anything about it at all. One of the sophomore boys, Dave, the kid who forgot his bag the other day, found an open beer and just started drinking it. He said he didn't even like it but he kept on drinking it.. pretty bad..

I'm Engaged! [Jun. 20th, 2006|10:16 pm]
Today was one of the most important memorable days of my life. Andy proposed to me infront of the big Berlin stuffed teddybear next to the toy store. It was so cute! We were taking pictures infront of it and Andy wanted a picture of us together infront of it and when the time came he got down on one knee. He opened the box and the ring fell out lol. People had gathered around to see what was going on and when I accepted everyone clapped! :) Afterwards Kayla, Megan, Jess, Katelyn and Diane chipped together and got us a stagecoach ride. We got the buggy with the black horses, it was very nice. Later on in the day we went on the "Wall Safari". I found another piece of Gestapo brick that was smaller and weighed less. I found a piece of the wall rather easily. I got enough for everyone in the family. I still need to get them back though because Andy's keeping them in his bag for me, I didn't have enough room in mine. I got eaten alive, sunburnt too. The weather's been so hot and miserable.. When we went back to the train station I bought a Silent Hill comic book. It's in German, but oh well.. I also got a box of Milka chocolates that were these thin little hearts. I shared them with Andy, they were tasty. Tomorrow we're leaving really early in the morning to go to Droyßig to go to our host families. Andy is going with Daphnä in Naumburg and Sarah, my host lives in Weißenfels. It should be interesting. I'm drifting off so I'm gonna go to bed.

Day 2 [Jun. 19th, 2006|11:34 pm]
It's actually the wee hours of the 20th, but whatever. I'm still awake, getting ready to go to bed though. Today was interesting. We went to the Checkpoint Charlie Meuseum. It had a whole bunch of things about the people trying to ecape over the wall. There was this one thing where a guy got shot SO many times, but survived it. They had a model diagram, picures and his actual clothes. Herr Madsen was so stir crazy today, I wanted to punch him. He wouldn't let us catch our breath for even a minute. It was all go, go, go.. I kept seeing things that I wanted to take a picture of but I'd have my camera in the case so it'd take forever for me to get it out and put the lens on. I was getting so mad... I was tired and sweaty and sore... One thing that really pissed me off; We went to check out where the Gestapo used to have under ground torture chambers and there were dismantled bricks just sitting there on the gound so I grabbed one. Later on we went to the Brandenburg gate and Unter den Linden and they having this soccer fanfest party so we had to go through security to get over to where we wanted to go. The lady who checked my bag was all 'are you serious.. you can't take bricks over there.' She gave me this huge attitude. So I almost got to take home a very important chunk of history, but nooo.. So that made me mad for a bit. Later on we went back to the Europa Center so we could see what it's like at night when it's all lit up. Andy, Diane, Katelyn and I wound up spending pretty much the whole time in a Dunkin Donuts. I got a vanilla tea. We didn't even end up getting to see the Europa Center lit up because Herr Madsen rushed us all out as usual.. I forgot to add this yesterday but when I was in the Europa Center in Berlin yesterday I grabbed a postcard for Bruce. It has a picture of the Kaiser Willhelm church. I think he'll like it. When we were in the trainstation mall area I got a nice carved wooden plate for my parents. It was more than I had spent on anything so far but they're worth it. I miss them a little already. Gotta love how my mom's always right.. A lot of the guys on the trip have been wicked rude and immature. Namely, Doug Jackson. What an asshole... They were SO loud on the train, omg. This guy got pissed off and yelled at Dave, who by the way forgot his bag at the bus stop... So we had to get off at the next stop after we'd gotten on and had to wait for him to walk alll the way to the bus stop near the hotel and back.. But yeah, whatever. I'm glad I actually have people that like to hang out with and get along with. It's around 2:30 am so I think I'm done for tonight. Soo tired. I kept writing so fast that my wrist would hurt. Anyways... Night

Continuation [Jun. 18th, 2006|10:24 pm]
I just got back not too long ago. We took a bus and a couple of trains to Berlin from Legenbruch. berlin was AMAZING. We went to see that church that Herr Madsen would always talk about in class. Got some really good pictures. We also went up into the TV tower and got to see a 360 birdseye view of East Berlin. I got yelled at by some asshole streetpunks because I wanted to take a picture of one of their dogs. I wasn't even pointing my camera at them. I thought they were just hanging out there but I guess they're homeless. So some jerk came up and waved his beer in my face and yelled at me. It's not like I knew they were homeless.. anyway, they got pissed off at me. Oh well, can't make everyone hppy I guess. I'm so tired I've been awake since 8:45 am in American time, had a 6 hour flight and was out all day..

First Day in Germany [Jun. 18th, 2006|04:06 pm]
I made it over alright. The landings for both flights were pretty rough. My ears were klling me. I'm sharing a room with Katelyn and Diane for the next three days. Pretty sweet! There's two beds, one single and a double so we're going to take turns sharing them. The ride to the hotel was fun, Andy and Katelyn sat with me on the bus. We talked about so many random things. One thing led to another. I wanted to get a movie ther Herr Masden showed in class but Katelyn told me that he has a special DVD player. Andy wants to get a video game over here but he said it'll probably work because his nudist repairman fixed his Dreamcast. Then we talked about nudist colonies and how if one of us were ever a nudist we wouldn't go out in public like that so Andy said he'd buy an island and it'd be Naked Island and they'd have to be tested to make sure they're not gross to live on the island, actually that was Katelyn's idea. in the middle of us talking the other kids on the bus started noticing "roads" that would go for a little bit and then just... stop. There were a lot of them. Then there were these houses that were all connected and they'd go on for a really long time, like a whole street of houses would be like that. That's pretty much everything up until now. I only have a little bit of free time left. I'll write more later on

[music |It's Over - Vertical Horizon]

I know, way to delay... but anyway... I am now officially a member of the Alumni of Timberlane Regional High School, where the T stands for edumakation. (In-joke with everyone whose ever gone to Timberlane) I'm leaving on Saturday to venture over to Germany for 3 weeks. I'm wiggedy excited d00d! I know this is terrible but I just want to see my teachers get hammered. Herr Madsen and Mr. Donellan have this special pub they go to every time they go over there. Herr Madsen's crazy as it is but I bet he's hysterical when he's drunk. I'm pretty sure that including myself and Andy, there are probably only going to be 6 sober people out of our group of 23. I can't wait to see my friends from over there again and meet their friends. It's gonna be fun. Well that's about all for now, just wanted to update.. Plus my pint of Ben & Jerry's is melting.. Later

One Year Anniversary w/ Andy! = AMAZING [May. 30th, 2006|09:38 pm]
[mood | loved]
[music |Forgiveness - Collective Soul (one of my fav songs by them)]

Since it was Memorial Day on Monday, we had a long weekend so Andy and I made that our celebration time for our anniversary. On Saturday Andy and I went to the mall. We went to the stores we always like poking around at and looking at stuff. Andy wound up getting his ears pierced because he's wanted to for a really long time, Gen was working at Claire's so she happily volunteered to do it. It's been an adjustment for me.. But they're just ears. After Andy got his ears done we went into FYE and looked at all the new awesome CDs that are out and wish we could own. He wound up asking me which were my top 3 for really wanting them (Damone, Dresden Dolls and Falco). So he wound up getting me the Falco CD (it's awesome 80's German music). After that we went to my house and my parents wound up letting him sleep over since they knew our anniversary was coming up. On Sunday we drove Josh to work and went to the beach. It was nice but we really didn't have much money so we mostly wound up hanging out in the Jeep in the $5 all day parking lot. Andy wound up insisting upon buying me a fairy for my collection though. While we were out walking around we came across Bob the Evangelist, so we wound up hanging out with him for a little bit, really nice guy. I had my picture taken with him and his awesome Jesus is Lord shirt, the hat he made and the signs he always has around his neck while he passes out tracks. Turns out he's from the same area of Pennsylvania that Andy is. There were supposed to be fireworks at 9:30 but we got sick of waiting and wound up going back to my house and watched 6 Feet Under with Josh and Mom. Yesterday I slept in to about 12:30. Andy got up a lot earlier at his house because he had to mow the lawn. When we did hang out we wound up watching Eternal Sunshine (the first movie we ever watched together). After that we went up into his brother Matt's room and played X-Box 360 until it was pretty much time for me to go. After school today we couldn't decide where to go to eat because of gas and money and stuff. We drove over to Larry's Clam Bar, but I guess it's always closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.. Something everyone I know from around here had failed to tell me before today.. So we went back to Andy's and he wound up complaining to his mom while I took a nap because I told him I wasn't going to listen to the 'oh woe is me' stuff he always pulls whenever he needs money or complains about not having a job... So his mom wound up giving him money and we went to the Cracker Barrel for dinner.

Good Times!
